Chips and Small Impact Damage
Sand the damaged area, prime, refill with matching resin, and blend the topcoat. Small chips are largely invisible once repaired, especially on flake floors.
Deep Scratches
Light scratches buff out with a fresh topcoat pass. Deep scratches that expose the base coat need spot repair with matching pigmented resin before recoating.
Peeling and Delamination
If the coating is lifting, the bond has failed. Spot repair rarely holds. The failed area — and often the full floor — needs to be removed and re-installed.
Color Matching Realities
Metallic finishes are hardest to match perfectly because the pigment flow is unique to each pour. Flake floors hide repairs well. Solid colors depend on how much the topcoat has yellowed with age.
When Full Recoating Is Smarter
If more than 20–30% of the floor has active issues, or the topcoat has worn through in traffic lanes, sanding down and recoating the whole floor gives a better result than dozens of spot repairs.
