Why Coatings Peel
Peeling is almost always a prep problem: acid etch instead of grinding, moisture in the slab, contamination, or coating applied over previous sealer. Rarely is the coating itself defective.
Our Removal Process
We shot-blast or grind off the failed coating down to bare concrete, test for moisture, chase any exposed cracks, and re-coat with a properly-specified system.
Can We Just Recoat Over the Failure?
Rarely. The failed coating is your bond layer — if it's lifting, anything installed on top will lift with it. Full removal is almost always required.
Preventing It From Happening Again
- Mechanical grinding to CSP-2 or higher
- Moisture testing before installation
- High-solids 100% epoxy or polyaspartic — not water-based DIY kits
- Compatible primer for the slab condition
