Epoxy Floor Maintenance Checklist: Weekly, Monthly, Yearly

Epoxy floors are low-maintenance, not no-maintenance. This routine keeps a coating looking like the day it was installed.

Weekly

  • Dust mop or soft-broom the floor to remove grit
  • Wipe fresh spills — oil, coolant, or food — before they set

Monthly

  • Damp mop with mild neutral-pH cleaner
  • Inspect high-traffic areas and lift bases for wear
  • Check garage door threshold seal for leaks

Yearly

  • Deep clean with an auto-scrubber or stiff bristle
  • Inspect topcoat for scratches or gloss loss
  • Consider a re-topcoat every 5-7 years for high-use floors

Products to Avoid

Skip acid cleaners, ammonia, and citrus solvents on epoxy — they can dull the finish. Skip pressure washing at over 1500 psi close-range; it can lift topcoat at edges. Salt residue from winter tires should be rinsed off, not left to sit.
